Ibiza Convention Bureau launches its sustainability roadmap for the MICE industry

At the Ibiza Convention Bureau (ICB), we believe that organising a meeting, conference or corporate event is also an environmental and social responsibility. Every event has the potential to create a positive legacy for the destination while supporting a more sustainable future for the meetings industry.

To strengthen this commitment, the Ibiza Convention Bureau has developed a comprehensive Sustainability Roadmap in collaboration with Genhetico, a consultancy specialising in sustainable MICE tourism. Rather than simply defining ambitions, the roadmap establishes clear, measurable and actionable objectives that will guide the Bureau's work in the years ahead.

The strategy is based on an in-depth assessment of the current MICE landscape in Ibiza, identifying opportunities to improve the environmental, social and economic impact of business events hosted on the island.

The roadmap is structured around three strategic pillars:

• Environmental sustainability, promoting responsible resource management and reducing the impact of events.

• Social responsibility, strengthening collaboration with local communities, encouraging accessibility and creating shared value.

• Good governance, supporting transparent decision-making and aligning with recognised ESG principles and international best practices.

As demand for sustainable meetings, green events and responsible business travel continues to grow, destinations must demonstrate a genuine commitment to sustainability. Through this roadmap, Ibiza reinforces its ambition to remain one of the Mediterranean's leading destinations for responsible meetings, conferences, incentive travel and corporate events.

For the Ibiza Convention Bureau, sustainability is not a one-time initiative but an ongoing journey of continuous improvement. By working closely with industry partners and stakeholders, the Bureau aims to ensure that Ibiza continues to offer innovative, high-quality and sustainable MICE experiences for companies, associations and event organisers from around the world.
